The Challenge
A UK precision engineering firm with 85 employees and 7M in annual revenue was running on a combination of Sage 50, Excel, and tribal knowledge. Production scheduling lived in the plant manager's head. Material requirements planning was a 4-hour weekly exercise in spreadsheet reconciliation. Engineers were quoting jobs using a cost calculator that hadn't been updated since 2019, causing them to underprice complex orders by as much as 23%. When the plant manager of 18 years announced his retirement, the CEO realised the company's operational knowledge existed in no system at all.
Our Solution
We built a custom ERP system covering four core modules: job costing and quoting (with live material cost feeds), production scheduling with drag-and-drop visual planning board, materials requirement planning with automated purchase order generation, and a quality control module for NCR tracking. The system replaced Sage for operational functions while retaining it for accounting via an API sync. We spent four weeks on-site shadowing the plant manager before writing a single line of code, translating 18 years of operational knowledge into system logic.
